Kawhia / Raglan
fishing report
October 30, 2020
The week started off pretty well with plenty of very good snapper on board by early afternoon. As we progressed through the weekend, Sunday to Monday the bite became very late in the afternoon, around three pm which is pretty much home time for us on a charter, but we hung around to get the best results we could which made for a long day.
Sometimes in this game you have to do what it takes! Lucky we love it 😊
This week things are shaping up nicely and I think we are in for some cracker results and home early.
The snaps have been pretty fussy about what they are snacking on.
Bonito is the flavour of the week and fresh couta and macs are next. The usually good old squid they don’t seem to have much time for at present.
There are still plenty of gurnard around and some are real stonkers around 9 kilo plus.
There’s a few kahwai around also.
The summer sharks are starting to show up now which is par for the course.
Blues and makos are there, but not annoying us too much whilse we are fishing yet.
I suspect albacore may be out wide now, or they can’t be far away.
Most bottom fishing still happening 50-60 meters from off the bar leads and down to Albatross Point.
Cheers
Rob
