Despite challenging weather limiting outings, our last trip out west saw decent catches of snapper, gurnard, and kahawai, with hopes for improved conditions by early October.

Well, there's been plenty of action out west, but for all the wrong reasons—wind, rain, and swell, some pushing seven meters at times. As a result, our fishing adventures have been very limited; I think we've only managed to fish three days this month. Looking forward, it's not looking great either; I'm expecting early October to improve, based on current weather forecasts.

Our last trip on the 13th was not bad—there were plenty of snapper around 8-10 lbs, with gurnard and kahawai in the mix, and a few spiny dogs, but that's about it.

Kind regards  Rob & Jacqui Fitzgerald
