Kawhia / Raglan
fishing report
November 29, 2024
The fishing is excellent right now, with quick limits of snapper, good-sized gurnard and kahawai, and productive bait options for those looking to catch big.
Hi Team,
The fishing is still going off, with plenty of fish in the 4-10 lb range, often two at a time, and limits caught within a few hours most days. There has been a bit of bycatch with good-sized gurnard and kahawai—pretty much business as usual for this time of year, and it should continue until Christmas, which isn't that far away now. The days are slipping away, so if you want to catch some outstanding fish before then, now's the time.
All baits are working well, though barracouta strip baits seem to outperform others if you want the bigger fish. The water temperature has taken a hammering over the last week, dipping to 15 degrees, with a lot of southerly wind. The water colour has turned pretty dirty as well. Weekend weather is looking pretty good too.
Cheers,
Rob
Kind regards,
Rob & Jacqui Fitzgerald
