Explore innovative techniques for soft bait fishing and take advantage of quieter weather to refine your skills, as suggested by the latest updates and fishing conditions in the Hauraki Gulf.
Macro to Micro Soft Baits, an Espresso Pearl. Mouthwatering morsels—your soft baits. Here's a simple way you may not have thought of to make even more effective use of your current stash of soft baits, saving yourself a lot of money. They're extremely effective whether you're fishing out in deep water or right up into the shallows, great for kayak and land-based soft bait success too—definitely worth a quick look!
Trick or Treat – the best is by being both. Think about it: the temptation to ‘just have one’ (yeah right) is often overwhelming whether you are hungry or not, after all, what has hunger got to do with eating a mouthwatering lolly? Or, when you’re famished and there’s a big slice of your favourite pizza offered—‘get in my belly’ right? Similarly, with snapper and kingfish, your best lures are tricks and treats. Better presentation and particularly better techniques make them irresistible, whether the fish are keen to feed or not. A favourite saying ‘action is everything’ often rings true. Remember to use a variety of techniques, and changes within those techniques (as demonstrated in several seminars) will often trigger a bite, even when your mind was telling you there’s no fish here/they’re not hungry/only small ones etc.
Switching between a slow pitch, to a semi-speed jig briefly, to a painfully slow jig retrieve—and a virtually stationary expertise of the Rod Holder approach—significantly alters the action of your lure. Change frequently, and you can dramatically change the fortunes of your fishing day. Don’t just stick to repeating the same old, same old textbook approach.
Perhaps something for a blustery weekend indoors? Enjoy "The Secret World of Sound" on Netflix by David Attenborough (for those of you who have been to an Espresso presentation, you may remember the importance placed on sound in fishing success). Sound is a key aspect of excellent fishing, with gob-smacking footage in Attenborough's film and some wonderful applications to our fishing as a bonus.
Have a great Labour Weekend if you’re in New Zealand, with PWC, kayaks, amphibious boats, and wonderful times on the water ahead, including the amazing armada of the Coastal Classic out of Auckland—what a wonderful spectacle of vessels under sail! THANK YOU—because of your amazing response and requests, 'Espresso' the boat is getting a treat, being readied to coach keen anglers and those that want to be, out on the local waters over summer. A very limited number of on-water workshops will kick off around Christmas/New Year with Captain Espresso—so if you or your friends want to experience and be shown personally, learning various successful techniques, the real ‘how-to’ of micro jigging, soft baiting, mechanical jigging, and more bait-free fishing methods, best you email us now here at fishingcoachpro@gmail.com.
