Deep sea slow pitch jigging session leads to trumpeter in Wellington waters

Hi Team,

I couldn't make it out fishing myself, but I've been busy chatting and helping at the expo.

On Saturday morning, I attended KP Marine's expo, which was a fantastic event featuring insightful talks and displays from various suppliers. Espresso's soft bait talk was particularly impressive, as were the presentations from Ocean Legacy on slow pitch jigging, and MIG and Scott from Fishing Adventure. Unfortunately, I had to leave early due to an unexpected job on the tug boat.

Many attendees who bought new gear and learned new techniques at the expo went out fishing that afternoon, reporting catches of snapper, kingfish, and tarakihi.

Solid puka

Although Wednesday's forecast was promising, I had to change my plans due to my wife's flight being cancelled. However, I had a great chat with Sam from Sam Sea's Salt (https://instagram.com/sam_seas_salt?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==), who took the Shimano representative and Felix from Capital Fishing (https://instagram.com/capital.fishing?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==) out for a deep sea slow pitch jigging session. From their feed and photos, it seems they had a great time catching various species, and it's exciting to see trumpeter back in our waters.

Johnny falls for the slow pitch jig.

All the best,
Tight lines.
